Message from the Student President

Hey there! Welcome to the new school year! I hope you have a great year and that throughout the year you begin to think of the Newman Smith Orchestra as your family if you don’t already.

I want the freshmen to feel free to ask upperclassmen anything they want—it doesn’t have to be orchestra-related. We’ll gladly give you high school surviving tips and clear your doubts about other subjects, but we can’t if you don’t let us know you want our help, so speak up! :-)

Whether you’re a veteran or you’re new to our department, I want to encourage you to be involved in orchestra, and school in general. High school is full of amazing opportunities, and the only way to have fun at school (yes, it’s possible) is to take advantage of these by getting involved, especially in orchestra.

I’m very excited for this school year, and I hope you are, too. Have fun, but practice hard so we can continue our musical tradition of excellence.

Sincerely,

Raquel Rodriguez
2011-2012 NSHS Orchestra President
