A Note from the President:
I, along with the Executive Board would like to welcome you to the 2009-2010 school year of the Newman Smith High School Orchestra Program. The members of the Executive Board are eager to assist you and answer any questions.
A new year, a new director and a fresh start – are just a few words to describe this upcoming year in the orchestra family at Newman Smith. The executive board has been working hard all summer to prepare for this change. We are excited to welcome Mr. Smith as our director and know that with his guidance and assistance from Mrs. Milbrandt this program will continue to be an outstanding and award winning orchestra program.
We have all invested many hours and dollars in our children’s music education and we want to encourage you to continue to do so. The directors and our children have made a commitment to maintain a high standard of excellence not only in music but in life. We must endorse their commitment by supporting their endeavors. Please support the program by joining and staying involved with the Booster Club. Volunteers are needed and appreciated.
There are many ways to volunteer. We have chairperson positions available to assist with our car wash, garage sale, scholarship dinner and auction. We also need chaperones every year for events such as the fall picnic, roller skating and bowling just to name a few. Another way to help is to volunteer to work at Standridge Stadium concessions. We have been able to assist the band for many years and in appreciation of our help, the band makes a generous contribution to our organization. Working any of these events is a great way to meet the kids and other parents. You will discover that we have some of the greatest kids.
So, get involved and invest in the future. The Executive Board looks forward to meeting you.
Sincerely,
Cheryl Schaum
